greetings from Hamburg!

Hi hello internet!  I am writing you from my wonderful hotel room in Germany!  The hotel is super nice and awesome, I don’t think we could have picked a better spot.  The hotel Smolka is located within a nice residential area, and public transit is just around the corner!  We came to the hotel 3 hours before normal check-in time, but within 20 minutes they had it ready for us.  Before we left the lobby, someone poured us champagne flutes of orange juice!  Swanky!

Our room on the top floor has two double beds, an amazing view of snow-topped roofs, streets and trees, AND (the best part) a spacious bathroom!  NO LONGER will I have to shower in a 2 foot triangle!!!  I had a bath last night and it was absolutely amazing.  Ah.  I love this place.

Getting here wasn’t too bad, just long and without sleep.  RyanAir is truly a budget airline: the seats don’t recline, no pocket to put stuff in, and noisy noisy children behind you kicking your seat (out of the ENTIRE plane, they had to sit behind us?).  Luckily, we made friends with a German girl who helped us figure out how to get to Hamburg (we flew into a neighboring town).  We were going to take a bus for 10 euros, but the bus apparently was stuck in bad traffic, so we had to take a train, transfer, then take another train into the big transportation terminal of Hamburg.  There was NO WAY we would have figured any of that our without the german, especially since all the ticket machines were only in german!

Once we were in the terminal, we just had to get on the metro to our stop.  Easy peasy!

I’ll go and upload some video now, but until then, Guten Morgen!
